The Japan Experience

Going to Japan is a dream for many people. Japanese culture is arguably very complex yet structured. There are many aspects of Japanese culture that intrigues people. The people, greenery, architecture and the aesthetics of Japan is something that is unique but still looks pleasing to me. Many pictures and videos can be seen that showcases the beauty of Japan. Whether it is the flashy lights in Tokyo or the snowy mountains of Hokkaido, it is still a sight to see.

In the summer of 2018, my family decided to go to Japan. We had our plan laid out for his. We planned on going to cities such Tokyo, Shinjuku, and Akihabara. When we arrived at the airport, everything already felt like a fresh of breath air for my eyes. It was weird to see an airport that wasn’t super hectic with people running around. Entering a different country may seem weird because of the large amount of people from a different country. Exiting the airport, my family and I had to take a taxi to our hotel.

On the way to the hotel, there was a lot to see of the city of Tokyo. The amount of tall buildings with large neon signs was a sight to see. Everything that I imagined what Japan would be like was here and even better. On top of this, there was little to no traffic which alone amazed me. The tall buildings seemed as if they were much larger that what is typically seen in cities. We haven’t taken our first steps on the streets of Japan but there were numerous sights to see just from just inside the taxi.

The second day of the Japan trip, my family and I went through the city of Akihabara during the night. The bright neon signs that were scattered across the buildings. The amount of restaurants became overwhelming. As a family, we ended up settling with a small yet high quality ramen place near where we were. The staff were welcoming despite their bad english. The food was far beyond any ramen I have ever had the the past. The broth alone left an excellent umami taste, this paired with the semi al dente noodles was dynamic duo.

Akihabara

On the last day, my family and I went through the luxurious city of Shinjuku. One of the  This city is littered with popular fashion brands and stores with items that are hard to find anywhere else in the world. The amount of walking from store to store was exceeding one’s typical limit but in the end it was worth it. There were many people lining up outside in the pouring rain to buy from these highly acclaimed designer outlet stores.

Shinjuku

“a major commercial and administrative centre, housing the northern half of the busiest railway station in the world and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building…”

Throughout my days in Japan, the times my family and I experienced some of the best things that Japan has to offer. From the culture to the history and especially to the food, it is an unforgettable experience. Learning about the shrines and its importance; sightseeing the beauty in the streets of Tokyo and Akihabara; and looking at luxurious fashion clothing created by designer brands. In conclusion, the experience of going to Japan is an amazing way to get away. It is hard to describe through words how wonderful it was to go to a country as spectacular as Japan.
